TATONKA – The Bavarian Bison

Functional outdoor equipment from Germany: The TATONKA brand was founded in 1993. As one of very few companies in the outdoor industry, the German family business has maintained and operated its own production facility for over 20 years.

TATONKA's product range includes backpacks, clothing, tents, bags, daypacks, and other accessories. As a supplier for athletes and outdoor adventurers, the focus is on practicality. The manufacturer considers various aspects in its design and production. This should also be taken into account when making a purchase: the chosen item should not only be visually appealing but also suitable for its intended use.

What does the volume specification for the products indicate?

What's written on the label is what fits. We measure the volume of our backpacks, bags, etc., in a practical way. Using loosely filled bags of packing granules (1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 liters), which are distributed even in corners and nooks, we get very precise information about the actual packing volume, including external pockets and lid compartments.

Can you wash a tent or a backpack in the washing machine?

Please don't. While it won't necessarily damage them, it will definitely void the warranty. Clean your backpack or bag with lukewarm water and dish soap – ideally in the bathtub. Re-waterproofing isn't necessary, as the materials are already coated. Your tent will also come clean with hand washing, water, and a sponge. After cleaning, let it dry thoroughly and store it in a clean, dark place to prevent mildew and unpleasant odors.

The name

The name Tatonka comes from the language of the Sioux Indians. Translated into English, it means bison. The bison is both the brand's mascot and part of its logo.

The powerful presence of a bison embodies strength, but also symbolizes the responsible handling of nature and what nature gives us.
