They are characterized by many practical features specifically tailored to the demands of military service. Field blouses are often equipped with one or more Velcro panels where name tags, patches, or rank insignia can be attached. Furthermore, numerous pockets are a characteristic feature of combat shirts. These allow for the storage and constant carrying of necessary gear. Typically, classic field blouses are equipped with two chest pockets and one upper arm pocket. Because equipment can be stored in many pockets directly on the body, the necessary gear is always readily available. For this reason, combat shirts are also becoming increasingly popular for everyday tasks. Whether in the garden or the workshop, field blouses impress with their functionality and are therefore frequently worn in daily life. Last but not least, the materials used are particularly robust and durable. This is an important prerequisite for ensuring that the basic equipment of all military personnel is reliable while on duty. But field shirts also leave nothing to be desired in terms of comfort: Combat shirts are generally designed with a slightly looser cut to ensure maximum freedom of movement for the wearer during all activities. The lightweight materials feel pleasant against the skin and are cut in such a way that no pressure points are caused by seams. Many field shirts are made from odor-resistant and temperature-regulating materials, allowing them to be worn comfortably for several days and thus during extended deployments. To provide the wearer with additional protection, combat shirts are often equipped with reinforced sleeves and made from flame-retardant fabrics. Finally, field shirts frequently utilize materials that are both cut- and abrasion-resistant, thus adding further protective features useful for duty to the comfortable wearing characteristics of the Bundeswehr trousers. Some models even forgo hard metal or plastic parts to prevent secondary injuries when worn under body armor during gunfire. All in all, field blouses and combat shirts are true all-rounders: as functional clothing, they are used in many areas of operation and make it easier to perform a wide variety of tasks both on duty and in everyday life.
