In principle, both earplugs and over-ear headphones serve the same purpose, although the latter are somewhat bulkier. If you don’t want to sacrifice much space in your luggage, you should opt for compact solutions; for the shooting range and similar uses, full headphones are recommended. In addition to classic protection through high-quality padding, electronic headphones are available as a modern alternative. With these, the microphone-like function of the membranes is automatically switched off as soon as external noise exceeds a preset level. For effective use, the most important factor is the optimal fit in the ear canal or on the outer ear. Many brand manufacturers therefore rely on soft padding that adapts to the shape of your ear and can be worn without pain.
