Always well equipped with ASMC gloves

Find the right glove for every situation in life, e.g. work, car, motorcycle or outdoor. ASMC shows you what matters and what you should pay attention to.

What should I keep in mind when using gloves?

There are usually no special considerations when using gloves for the first time. However, it is advisable to read the instructions for use carefully. These often contain specific care instructions or directions for use from the manufacturer. In addition, they may include important information such as warnings about activities for which the gloves must not be used (e.g. due to insufficient grip when driving). Brand manufacturers such as Sealskinz, Invader Gear or Mechanix Wear fortunately usually mark important information clearly using standard symbols.

Tip: Wash your hands before putting on your gloves to reduce the development of unpleasant odors. The hand, as one of the most important tools of human work, should be protected by gloves against cold, heat, friction or chemical influences, while also improving functionality. Before putting on the gloves, you should check whether the lining or inner glove is twisted. If there is a closure mechanism (such as hook-and-loop fastener, snap button or zipper), it is important to use it correctly.

Which glove is right for me?

The choice of the right glove depends primarily on its intended use. The main distinguishing features include:

Outdoor gloves for activities in the open air

For outdoor activities, certain properties are essential. These gloves should be water-repellent, breathable and well insulated to provide you with optimal protection in changeable weather. Materials such as Gore-Tex or neoprene are ideal here, as they offer a good compromise between thermal insulation and moisture management.

Tactical gloves for military use

Tactical gloves are used in military and law enforcement settings. They are characterized by their robustness and at the same time provide you with a good grip and protection against mechanical impacts. Reinforcements on the palms and fingers offer additional protection and increased durability.

Once you have determined the main area of application, you can also choose between different glove designs:

Mittens or finger mitts

With mittens or mitts, all fingers except the thumb are enclosed in a single inner chamber.

For quick access to essential gear, Tasmanian Tiger offers a selection of functional waist bags that are ideal for tactical missions, outdoor adventures and everyday use. The bags are lightweight, compact and MOLLE-compatible, allowing them to be attached flexibly to belts, vests or backpacks.

Convertible mittens offer you a combination of finger glove and mitten. Thanks to a fold-back cover, your fingertips can be quickly exposed when needed, which is useful for fine motor tasks.

Finger gloves

Finger gloves are characterized by the fact that each finger has its own separate sheath. This construction allows for increased mobility and dexterity, which is particularly important for tasks that require precise handling. They offer an ideal combination of protection and flexibility and are therefore perfectly suited for a wide range of activities, from everyday tasks to specific professional requirements.

Half gloves or fingerless gloves

Half gloves or fingerless gloves leave your fingertips free and are suitable for tasks where tactile sensitivity is important.

When choosing gloves, it is important that they are not too tight so as not to impair circulation and cause cold fingers. Many gloves are constructed in multiple layers to provide better insulation according to the onion principle. Gloves for mechanical protection are intended to prevent injuries such as blisters, calluses, abrasions, cuts and punctures. They are usually designed as full-finger gloves to ensure independent mobility of the fingers. To determine the correct size, measure the circumference of the hand at knuckle height, excluding the thumb. The appropriate glove size can then be read from a size chart.

What materials are available?

In addition to choosing the right size, you also have to face the challenge of choosing the right material. You can choose between common materials such as polyester, neoprene, polyacrylic, as well as artificial (synthetic) and natural leather. For special fields of application there are special fabrics, for example the so‑called flame-resistant Nomex leather blends, absolutely waterproof fabrics such as MVT fabric made of nylon and Lycra, or cold-weather gloves made of polyester and cotton with warm Thinsulate lining. Studs applied to the materials often further improve grip.

Questions: Gloves

Why are my hands always so cold and what can I do about it?

Our hands are crisscrossed with many blood vessels that constrict in the cold. In addition to the hands, the feet, ears, nose and chin are also affected. Reduced blood flow to the extremities allows the body core to continue to be supplied with sufficiently warm blood, while hands and feet cool down quickly. The skin on the hands is usually thin and has little insulating fat. Since the hands also have a relatively large surface area, a lot of heat is lost there. In addition to physical factors, psychological issues such as stress or anxiety can also cause the vessels to constrict and make your hands feel cold. Blood circulation can be stimulated by spicy foods such as red pepper, Tabasco, chili or paprika powder. To prevent cold hands, you should train your blood vessels, for example with contrast showers or cardiovascular exercise. Sauna visits also promote circulation. It is also important to ensure relaxation in everyday life, because in stressful situations adrenaline and noradrenaline are released, which can cause the vessels to narrow.

Extra tip: Sprinkling cayenne pepper on your hands can also provide warmth. But be careful: this should only be used sparingly, as it can cause skin irritation and can be particularly dangerous around the eyes.
