just a quick update ***** after 21 battles, nearly all replicas have needed some serious repairing, but they still work ***** accuracy: % of shots hitting a 30cm bag at... 15m=100% 20m=80% 25m=50% 30m=20% ***** still a lot of fun, but already thinking about an upgrade to much more expensive replicas in order to get a longer range

Hi, it\'s me again, updating my review. First of all, although I measured 0.33 joules with this replica, the official site of germansportguns rates it at 0.48J, which may be the number to compare with other official numbers. I made my measurements by recording the sound of a series of shots at a target 6m away; with 0.20g bbs, it took about 105 ms from first blast to impact, which means 57m/s, or 0.33J. I have modded my replicas by changing the spring to a more powerful one, with which the bb takes about 85ms to travel the same 6m, which means 70m/s, or 0.48J, which would translate to 0.7 \"official joules\". I don\'t yet have the technology to measure the time the bb takes to travel the first meter, and I assume first acceleration and then air friction explain the difference over 6m. So you can get up to 0.7 joules by cheaply modding this gun, but BEWARE: the replica will suffer, and unless you reinforce the parts working directly with the pressure from the spring, they will break sooner than later (the weakest link seems to be the the \"metal\" handle: I already broke -and succesfully repaired- 3 out of the 8 I have, before reinforcing the rest; in fact, the first one I broke was in an experiment with a \"over one official joule\" spring, with some 85m/s measurements, which caused the replica to be unworkable -I\'m just not strong enough to deal wich such spring-, and said part to break at the fourth experimental shot). I just bought 6 more of these replicas for some friends. THEY ARE STILL FUN!!!

Not as durable as more expensive models, but certainly more than most other models at this price. Just look at the weight.

But the best is that they are surprisingly powerful for the price: with hop-up at minimum, I have consistently measured 57m/s with a 0.2g BB, which means 0.33J. Beware of other "<0.5J" models with much less power, specially if they are electric but cost so little (some friends bought electric models on ebay for a similar price and ended up with useless toys that have a power of around 0.1J).

And they are precise too: using it with 0.2g BBs it I can hit a 20cm target at 20m with at least one of every two shots. 30m seems to be the farthest you can hit a steady human with these, though he may not even feel the hit, as at this distance the ball is already travelling fairly slow.

By the way: it comes with some 0.12g BBs, but you definitely want to use 0.2g BBs, as with the 0.12g ones precision is null beyond 12m.

My conclusion is that this replica is extremely recommended for people who want to play wargames without expending a lot of money. You should be at a disadvantage if you were to play against people using real AEGs, because of power and reload time, but I can tell you: this thing works. We are a group of 8 people fighting among us with these ak47's, and it sure is FUN!!
